Spoon Carving Course Voucher

£120.00

I had the pleasure of attending Steve’s spoon carving workshop a couple of weekends ago, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is something I wanted to do for a while and am glad I did it through Axe and Paddle. He is knowledgeable and wants to share this with you, making sure throughout that you are comfortable with the tools and that your spoon carving is going well!. Always on hand for any questions and shares his passion for his craft with passion.

It was joy to attend and carve my very own spoon, I am now looking at carving a paddle on his two day workshop!

Kirsty was very helpful via email and answered any queries I had. All in all a great day – Great workshop, location and hospitality 🙂

If you’ve been thinking of carving a spoon or anything else with Axe and Paddle, go book it, you wont’ regret it 🙂

Description

If you’re looking for a gift, or just unsure of dates, then this voucher will allow you to decide the date later on.

1 day course, learning the incredibly therapeutic art of Spoon Carving and carving your own wooden spoon to take home.

Embrace the opportunity to learn to carve your own wooden spoon on our South Wales smallholding. Steve will share with you his many years of carving experience and knowledge of the tools and materials to use. You’ll learn a range of cutting techniques using an axe, a sloyd knife and a crook knife, allowing you to create your own wooden spoon efficiently and safely.

The experience is suitable for all abilities and is a guaranteed relaxing and satisfying day learning a fantastic new skill.

You’ll leave with the skills to be able to practice what you’ve learnt on your own and of course, you’ll take home your own wooden spoon to add to your kitchen collection! There’s nothing like eating a nice bowl of porridge or a home-cooked stew with a spoon that you’ve hand carved yourself or alternatively, give it away as a special and memorable gift.

The course is hosted in our newly restored 19th Century stone outbuilding on our smallholding in the Brecon Beacons, South Wales. We lay on all the tea and coffee you can drink and provide motivational snacks! Please bring your own lunch (which you are welcome to cook over our woodburning stove) and some sturdy shoes.

“Steve was a great instructor, he showed me how to use various tools in a safe an effective manner. We started off with a “blank” bit of wood and over the course of the day turned it into a spoon. Steve and Kirsty were friendly, fun and informative and I would highly recommend going on one of their courses to anyone interested in bushcraft. 5 stars from me!”

“This was one of the best days I’ve ever spent. Steve is a brilliant teacher and he and Kirsty made us feel at home from the minute we arrived. Absolutely brilliant hosts and left us feeling that we’d always known them. We learned a great deal and were inspired by them and what they had to teach us.”
