This week we’ve been enjoying some beautiful sunshine down in Sussex. We were booked to build dens in the woods and make bows and arrows for 12 year old Zack’s birthday, with his friends over in a lovely spot of Hastings woodland. We taught the boys how to light fire with a flint and steel and the birthday boy said it was his best birthday ever! His mum Sallie even left us a lovely review on our Facebook page!
We also taught a one on one course on Making Buckskin by Brain Tanning. Young Katie was a real grafter and she produced one of the softest buck skins we’ve had yet – in the near hundred we’ve done! Katie was lucky enough to have access to an abundance of deer where she lives, and was very conscious that every part of the animal should be cherished. Nothing wasted. My views exactly.
